PhD Student
Department of Government
Harvard University
Welcome!
Hi, I'm Isabel. I'm a Ph.D. student and Carl J. Friedrich Fellow in the Department of Government at Harvard University, where I study the comparative politics of democracy and democratic backsliding in Europe and North America.
You can find my CV
here.
My research on democratic stability lies at the intersection of party strategies, political economy, and political geography. I am particularly interested in mainstream parties' responses to extremist threats, subnational democratic backsliding, and the political economy of authoritarianism.
Prior to Harvard, I received a B.A. in Political Science and a certificate in French (summa cum laude) from Yale University in 2025.
